The Macau Jockey Club announces that Indian Jockey Suraj NARREDU has been granted a Visiting Jockey Licence to ride a period from 8 August to 31 August 2014, both dates inclusive.
Mr Narredu commenced his Jockey apprenticeship in the 2002-2003 season and was met with immediate success when he was crowned Champion Apprentice in the same season.
After having obtained a one-month visiting Jockey Licence in Macau in 2004, he has also ridden in Mauritius, Malaysia, and was the first Indian Jockey to ride at the Dubai International Racing Carnival aboard the horse FULL SPEED in 2006. He is also the first Indian Jockey to ride a winner in the United States of America when he partnered the horse INVISIBLE STAR to success at Arlington Park in Chicago in 2011.
Throughout his relatively short career Mr Narredu has amassed more than 1450 winners and currently leads the Bangalore Jockey Premiership having ridden 23 winners from 62 rides with an impressive 37% win strike rate. In total he has won 64 graded races which include 24 Classic races as highlighted by the recent success aboard BE SAFE in the Kingfisher Bangalore Derby (Group 1) in July.
His current riding weight is 118lbs.
